Lab 5: Add XY Data Points and Geocoding

In this week's lab, there were many steps to prepare data to be put into ArcGIS and ensure that the data was being projected correctly. For the first part of the lab, we worked with lat/long data in Excel to prepare it to be imported to a map project in ArcGIS. I didn't have any trouble with this part of the lab, and below is an image of what the finished product looked like. The map shows the location of three eagle nests in the bay area of Pensacola.

The next part of the lab dealt with geocoding. While I didn't have any trouble with the lab itself, it did take me longer than I expected to ensure that all of the data was associated with the correct coordinate system. The link below will take you to the finished product from the geocoding part of the lab. This map shows the locations of all of the schools within Manatee County, Florida.
